Rowan 'Aukai has magic in her blood, but when her mother sacrifices herself to save the Magic Realm from ruin, her father forbids Rowan and her sister, Sabrina, from continuing to train as spellcasters. Dissatisfied by the trappings of adolescence sans magic and visited in her dreams by her mother's silent yet persistent spirit, Rowan runs away from home, determined to find a way to bring her mother back to life.
