Weird Science XI
Previously: While her children dealt with more trivial concerns like dating and her wife nearly cooked herself to death, Nadia grew ever more determined in her pursuit of the extraterrestrial - and the aliens returned her interest with a vengeance.
I'm going to admit upfront that this is a blatantly half-assed finale. I'm going to do my best, but there's only so much I can do to distract from the fact that I was completely checked out at this point.
Simon continues his unconventional approach to romance by literally yelling at this girl until she agrees to date him.
Simon: Hey, I showed you my muscles! I deserve a chance!
Mandy: Oh my gosh, a double date! We're going to have so much fun together, you guys!
Simon: Hmm, I don't remember agreeing to this set-up...
Simon: *grumbling to himself* She always has to go and make it all about her! How am I supposed to put the moves on my girl with those two weirdos just sitting there staring at us awkwardly?
Well, that temper tantrum was short-lived. He certainly doesn't seem to have any problem putting the moves on her now.
Simon: Oh, you're sick? Poor thing! I guess you and your date will just have to leave early. That's really a shame! Feel better soon! *is already plotting what he will do with this coveted moment of intimacy*
Mandy is well aware of his tricks, though, and gets him back the second he returns home.
Mandy: You think this hurts? I swear to god, if you did anything inappropriate to that girl, I will murder you.
Meanwhile, Nadia has finally gotten that last promotion she's been chasing forever (so long that she's an elder now). I'll be honest, at this point, I was only still playing their household because I felt obligated to get her to the top of her career track so she could visit aliens... That might be a spoiler for where the rest of this is about to go.
Yes, indeed! Nadia is now able to make the final upgrades to her wormhole generator, which should allow for intergalactic travel... Watch out, aliens, because she's coming for you this time!
Nadia: My trusty little pal, we succeed once more! You've served me well, friend!
Before she can test her latest modifications out, though, she has to take care of the disguised aliens who have managed to sneak into the lab today, despite their very obviously out-of-place fashion sense.
Nadia: Well, let's see how you assholes like it when somebody else invades your planet and messes up all your tech!
Here she goes... Hopefully, she'll come out in one piece on the other side.
She lands on the planet Sixam, and its environment is completely unlike any she's encountered on her own planet. It's beyond her capacity for description. She wanders aimlessly for a while, taking in its unbelievable scenery.
She can barely pull herself away from the views to document the exciting new forms of life the planet has to offer.
When she finally begins investigating, she finds several strange rounded geodes scattered across the landscape and scoops up as many as she can to analyze back in the lab.
She sees many unrecognizable plants, too, and takes some of their fruit for further investigation.
The aliens are coming in hot on her tail, though. They must have sensed a disturbance in the atmosphere when she arrived. Are they contacting their leader for further instructions on how to proceed, or are they just as addicted to smartphone games as we are?
Not yet aware she may be in danger of being discovered, Nadia is rendered immobile by the unfathomable beauty of the glowing, fluorescent fauna. Their lights and colors are so vivid they seem alive, even sentient, as if they are breathing just like she is.
She picks more fruit, until her lab coat pockets bulge with alien items...
Finally, one of the aliens manages to track her down. If she's caught, she may be too incapacitated to return home... But what if they've already found her wormhole generator and destroyed it? Is she trapped on this planet forever now?
Not yet! She returns to the wormhole generator and leaps through just in time, before any of the aliens have her within their grasp. We'll have to assume she makes it safely back to the lab, but I guess we'll never really know...
(Just kidding! This may be the end of Nadia's science-y adventures, but she and her family will continue to thrive, maybe even making the occasional background appearance or two in the future.)
