Road to Selvadorada XI

Previously: Temple exploration was plagued by poison darts, killer bees, and fireflies who took their name very literally. Although it ultimately ended in a bounty of riches, Shawn paid with his death, as much as his family tried to prevent it.

I can't tell if Fátima is asking Aisha to hang out because she's too shy to ask Gideon directly or because she's trying to mess with Gideon and play hard to get. Either way, I'm down for this visit.

Aisha: Son, exciting news! Your new girlfriend is on her way over!
Gideon: Ugh, Mom, please. She's not my girlfriend! Stay out of my love life!
Aisha: Come on, aren't you going to thank me?
Gideon: ...Thank you.

(Also, you may have noticed a few changes to Gideon in the style department since their return from Selvadorada. I was trying to make him look less like his dad, and I think I succeeded. He looks pretty handsome to me now!)

Reunited at last! And hugging already! Things are off to a good start.

Oh, Aisha will not be happy that the first thing Fátima does upon entering the house is dig into that lovely cake she just finished for Mandy's birthday. We all know how much she hates it when people steal a taste of her desserts before it's time.

Look at her. Absolutely devastated. And milking said devastation for all it's worth. Fátima, HOW COULD YOU?!?

Aisha: Son, the fact that you would continue to associate yourself with such an impolite, poorly mannered, and selfish individual... *shudders* I regret ever agreeing to let her come over.

A little dramatic, don't you think?

Fátima barely leaves their house and she's already asking Gideon out on a date somewhere. She must be bored sitting in her hotel room all alone. Well, how could Gideon possibly say no to that?

Oh, someone is feeling extra flirty tonight. This is a nice change of pace from Gideon feeling like he has to do all the work.

Fátima: Sorry, it's not every day that you see a huge celebrity, especially when you live in the middle of the jungle like I do. I'll be back with you in just a moment!
Gideon: Oh no, please, take your time... I'll just be sitting here, patiently waiting.

Gideon: Oh, hey, you're back! Just in time for dinner!
Fátima: No, I was just grabbing another glass of wine real quick... Be right back!

Poor Gideon just can't catch a break while this guy's in the room stealing every ounce of his date's attention.

Gideon: Do not let this Del Sol Valley asshole outshine you. You are every bit as charming and handsome as he is, more even! Just walk over there and sweep her off her feet. You've got this. She won't be able to resist!

It looks like that self pep talk actually worked! He successfully manages to pull Fátima away from the grips of celebrity.

They end the night with a first kiss next to the skating rink... because who actually needs skating when kissing is an option?

GOOD GOD, FÁTIMA, GIVE A GUY A CHANCE TO REST, WON'T YOU?!? But, okay, he'll be right over!

(Side note: There was this weird glitch in the game for a while where Sims wouldn't actually show up at the same place they asked you out to, so if the locations ever seem not to match up with the invitations, that's why.)

The sun is only just rising, both of them are clearly exhausted, yet neither will admit it. This is the most impressive marathon dating session I've ever seen.

Whoever this random man is slyly sliding into a seat next to Fátima, he needs to LEAVE HER ALONE IMMEDIATELY!

Gideon: It is absolutely hilarious how you think you have a chance at winning her over with your infantile sense of humor!

Townie: Whatever, man... What makes you think I was even interested in the first place?

...He says, while nursing a beer depressed and alone as Gideon and Fátima shamelessly conduct a hot and heavy make-out session mere feet away.

Walk away, sir! Walk away! You have officially lost this round!

Gideon: Oh, hey, man! You're still here? Hope you enjoyed the show!

(Bonus Jerome cameo! I wonder what he's been up to this whole time...)

Sadly, it is my duty to announce that Gideon arrived home just in time to witness his mother's final moments in this world.

Needless to say, he was not very pleased about it.

Gideon: Boy, you'd better turn around and wobble in the opposite direction. You do not want to know what's happening in there, believe me.

A depression jog on the soggy boardwalk in the middle of a rainstorm. I have never seen more relatable content.

Geez, Fátima just does not let up. Isn't she supposed to be a single mom? She sure has a lot of disposable income and time to be hopping planes from Selvadorada to Brindleton Bay every other day.

I... um... WHAT?!!? Please tell me that's just a worryingly large food baby.

Gideon:

Gideon, five minutes later, once he's picked his jaw up off the floor: Care to explain?
Fátima: Oh, you mean this thing? Well, turns out drunken woohoo in the coat check closet at a seedy bar is a one-way ticket to unplanned pregnancy. You're going to be a father!

Inside the nightclub, Gideon runs into his father's ghost, which in any other circumstances would be a little bit awkward, but it turns out he could use some fatherly advice at the moment, so he's really glad to see him.

Gideon: Oh, Jesus, Dad! Could you not?!?
Shawn: Sorry, kid, just taking these supernatural abilities out for a test drive. Pretty impressive, eh?

Gideon: Anyway, I'm in a bit of a sticky situation. See that pregnant girl dancing behind us?
Shawn: Oh, yeah! Say, isn't that the girl from Selvadorada you had a little school boy crush on...
Gideon: Shh! Don't make a scene! Yes, that's her, and it's a little more complicated than a crush. In fact, that baby she's pregnant with is mine. Dad, what should I do next?
Shawn: If you really love her, son, I think you already know what to do...

Shawn's right. Gideon has plenty of inherited money, so he offers his full support to Fátima, her daughter, and their unborn child. Fátima immediately accepts. I think I can see ghost Shawn shedding a proud tear or two.

And just like that, they've moved into a new home together in Oasis Springs! I know I spent all that time furnishing a huge-ass mansion in Brindleton Bay, but it ended up just being way too big, and I thought a change of scenery would do everyone well. Plus, Oasis Springs is closer to the tropical climate of Selvadorada, so it'll be a less difficult transition for Fátima and her daughter.

Speaking of that daughter, her name is Ivana, but I am going to call her Ana from this point forward because her given name has certain real-life associations I don't want to be reminded of every time I see it. Anyway, she has a lot of feelings about her new home and her mom's new boyfriend and her soon-to-arrive new half-sibling and none of them are very happy. But she'll get over it eventually.

Ana: Mom, when can we go back home?
Fátima: But, honey, this is our home now! Aren't you excited?!?

LOOK AT THIS ADORABLENESS! I'M ALREADY FALLING FOR THIS LITTLE FAMILY SO HARD!!!

That being said, this is the final installment of this particular series, since it feels so tied to Aisha and Shawn and I think I've had my fill of Selvadorada for the timebeing. However, there are still plenty of memories and good times to be shared with these Sims, so don't worry, their story is far from over.
